FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can my family come with me?

In many cases you can include eligible family members (partner and dependent children) in your application, or have them apply to join you later. We'll advise based on your situation and your course.

Can I work on a student visa?

Student visa holders can generally work limited hours during study and more during recognised course breaks, subject to current conditions set by the Department of Home Affairs. We explain the work rules that apply when you lodge.

What is the Genuine Student (GS) requirement?

Your application must show you are coming to Australia primarily to study. The Genuine Student requirement replaced the former GTE requirement. We help you prepare a clear, well-evidenced response that addresses your circumstances, study choice and future plans.

How much money do I need to show?

You need to show access to sufficient funds to cover tuition, living and travel costs. The exact financial level is set by the Department and is updated periodically, so we calculate your specific requirement and advise what evidence is accepted.

What English level do I need?

The English requirement depends on your course and provider, and some applicants are exempt. We confirm exactly what you need and which tests or exemptions apply to you.

How long does a student visa take to process?

Processing times vary by course level, your country of application, and how complete your application is. A well-prepared application reduces delays — we give you a realistic estimate for your situation.

Can I change my course or provider later?

It is often possible, but conditions and timing matter and some changes can affect your visa. Speak with us before changing so we can advise on the right process.

What happens after I graduate?

You may be eligible for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) to gain work experience, and potentially a skilled migration pathway. We can map this out with you.
