Australia Points Calculator — Skilled Migration (189/190/491)

Use our free Australia points calculator to estimate your score for the skilled migration PR visas (subclasses 189, 190 and 491). Whether you're applying for Australia PR from India or you're already onshore, adjust the options below and your points update instantly. You generally need at least 65 points to submit an Expression of Interest — though competitive invitation cut-offs are usually higher.

This estimate is a starting point only. Your real, claimable points depend on evidence the Department will accept — an over-claim can cost you your invitation. As a registered migration agent (MARN 2418545), we tell you honestly where you stand and prepare it properly. Book a consultation →

Combined work-experience points are capped at 20.

Indicative only. This calculator is a guide based on the current General Skilled Migration points test (as at June 2026). It is not migration advice, does not account for your full circumstances, and does not guarantee an invitation. Points settings are set by the Australian Government and a points-test review is underway — always confirm current rules with the Department of Home Affairs or book a consultation.

How points are calculated: these values follow Schedule 6D of the Migration Regulations 1994 — the General Points Test for General Skilled Migration visas — which sets the points for age, English, overseas and Australian work experience (combined and capped at 20 under Part 6D.5), qualifications, partner skills and nomination.

Points values are set by the Australian Government and current as at June 2026. A points-test review is underway — confirm current settings before relying on them.

FAQ

Points calculator questions

How many points do I need for skilled migration?

You need a minimum of 65 points to submit an Expression of Interest, but this is only the pool mark. Actual invitation cut-offs are usually higher and vary by occupation, so a higher score is strongly recommended.

Is this points calculator official?

No. It is an indicative tool based on the current General Skilled Migration points test to help you estimate your score. It is not migration advice and does not guarantee an invitation. Book a consultation for a proper assessment.

Can my partner add points?

Yes. You may claim points if your partner has a positive skills assessment and competent English, fewer points for competent English only, or points if you are single or your partner is an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
